Coach McCloskey was an amazing coach and leader who demanded respect, encouraged his swimmers to work hard for success & inspired many of us to be lifelong swimmers. I appreciated his ability to inspire us to work towards goals and successfully build both the women's and men's swim program! A few highlights I recall are he always took the Girls Team to Anacortes in the fall for a meet-- a fun bonding experience! He also led us to many Metro Victories -- I remember the excitement over winning Metro Finals!

Ray was not only an incomparable teammate on two straight undefeated state championship teams, he was a caring and conscientious classmate, a tremendous contributor to our nation and world in his service in the Air Force, and today, a dear friend, who demonstrates as much courage and kindness as anyone I've ever known.

I remember joining Swim Seattle in grade school and Coach McCloskey told a nine or ten year old me that I was going to Prep and I was going to swim for the team... He was one the main influences on me choosing Prep.
