Q:

What is Battle of the Decades?

A:

Battle of the Decades is a friendly, participation-based competition between alumni decades to support Prep’s mission, show Panther pride, and expand access to Jesuit education.

Each alumni class has its own endowment fund. During Alumni Week, June 2-7, alumni can donate to their class endowment and every gift—no matter the amount—counts toward your decade’s total participation. The more classmates who give, the stronger your decade’s showing on the leaderboard!

The winning decade is the decade with the most participants!

Q:

What does my gift support?

A:

Your gift and all funds raised go directly to your class endowment, which provide tuition assistance for students who couldn’t otherwise afford a Seattle Prep education. Today, 22% of students benefit from over $3.1 million in financial aid annually—support that is only possible because of alumni like you.

Q:

How do class endowments work and what do they support?

A:

How endowments work: The endowment is invested. The principle always remains intact and an annual distribution (about 4%) is drawn each year to support the endowment’s purpose. These investments are professionally managed to balance growth and stability.

All class endowments support tuition assistance to support the next generation of Panthers.

Q:

Endowment Information

A:

The average tuition assistance award is $17, 275.

Every class has a class endowment. There are 86 class endowments.

In 2024-25, the Prep Endowment provided $1.1M of the over $3M given in tuition assistance.

Q:

Why is it important for alumni to support Seattle Prep (or class endowments)?

A:

Endowments play a vital role in ensuring Prep’s financial strength and long-term success. They provide critical resources in perpetuity, so the students of today and tomorrow have access to a transformative Jesuit education.

Tuition assistance helps ensure that economic barriers don’t stand in the way of a Jesuit education.

Q:

How many students receive tuition assistance?

A:
  • The school year, Seattle Prep’s tuition was $27,100.
  • The average tuition assistance award was $17,275.
  • 169 Prep students received assistance this year.
Q:

What does the winning decade receive and when?

A:

The winning decade - the decade with the most participation - will be announced at the All-Alumni Social on Saturday, June 7. The winning decade will earn:

• Bragging rights (first and foremost!)

• Placement on commemorative trophy given at the Alumni Social

• Mention in Panther Tracks
